Welcome from the CTM Coordinator

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for your interest in becoming an online mentor in the Certificate of Teaching Mastery program offered by Teachers Without Borders. We are delighted that you are interested in supporting your colleagues from around the world as they engage with the material and work towards completing this certificate program. Your experience and professional expertise are a true asset to our organization, and we are confident that your help and expert guidance will ensure that CTM candidates find this program empowering and rewarding.

The Certificate of Teaching Mastery is a self-paced and mentor-supported professional development program. We recognize the value of self-driven professional growth and strive to provide CTM candidates with online spaces where they can engage with the material, think about its applicability to their own contexts, and reflect on their own experiences in order to improve their classroom practice and become educational leaders in their schools and communities. We also realize that no one learns alone, and that a strong professional community is important in supporting individual professional development endeavors. This is why all teachers enrolled in the Certificate of Teaching Mastery are part of our social network and why they are all assigned an e-mentor who can assist them whenever necessary, act as a sounding board, engage them in teacher inquiry, and provide timely, frequent, and meaningful feedback.

Being an e-mentor in this program is a challenging task, but also an immensely rewarding one. After all, what can be more empowering than supporting your colleagues from around the world? I am confident that this role will provide you with frequent opportunities not just to support and assist teachers, but also to learn with and from them as you engage in discussions about topics and concepts that make up this certificate program.

This manual is designed to provide an introduction to the Certificate of Teaching Mastery and your role as an e-mentor. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with its contents. If, after reading this manual, you still have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to answer your questions.

In closing, I’d like to emphasize that this manual is still a work in progress. We are committed to making it as exhaustive as possible and would welcome your comments or suggestions. As the first group of e-mentors, you play an important role in shaping the program. Your feedback is important to us.

Sincerely,

Dr. Konrad Glogowski
