Peace Education and Classroom Practice: Introduction 

The following section looks at the subjects that are typically taught in school.  Within each subject, sample ideas and general suggestions for how to teach peace are provided.  This section is not designed to be a litany of what teachers can and can’t do.  Rather, they are designed to stimulate teachers to see the process of incorporating peace education into their classroom. 

 

The activities in this list are designed to combine techniques that teach peace with content that also teaches peace.  Many teachers struggle with the content aspect due to strict curriculums, either due to a lack of resources or to strong oversight from governing bodies.  In these cases we recommend that teachers refer to the Teaching and Learning Approaches section as they can still use techniques that promote peace.  Additionally, for teachers who lack access to resources, we have attempted to make this following list as resource-limited as possible so that it is accessible and useful for all who are interested.
